Mev Mrs. Valérie Beulen (Maastricht University) Wins national thesis award Bear Impulse Foundation met submitted thesis ‘The Supreme Court and the scope of protection for private co-owners of defective movable property: thedamage groin whereitfalls’.
Bear Foundation impetus, established by Amsterdam victim lawyers, encourages, among other things, the development of young talent with an interest in the legal field of liability and pressONDAMAGE. Dhe foundation has with this in mind - for the fourth years in a row - issued a national thesis award. Per addressed department (University) could submit to the foundation's board one master's thesis in the area of liability law and/or personal injury.
The expert jury on behalf of the foundation, consisting of Prof. mr. C.C. van Dam, mr. dr. F.Th. Kremer and Mr. J.M. Beer, has taken over bent the entries and on 14 May last year, the thesis award was presented to the author of the winning thesis, mewife mr. Valérie Beulen. The title of her thesis is ‘The Supreme Court and the Scope of Protection for Private Co-Owners of Defective Movable Property. the damage groin where it falls’. The thesis includes an examination of the desirability and foreseeability Of an analogous application of the limited personele protection range of the Imagine-arrest on article 6:173 BW. It also analyzes in detail what alternative compensation systems have to offer in this regard.
After careful consideration, the jury decided that Ms. Valérie Beulen, along with Maastricht University, deserves the thesis award. ‘The thesis is methodically sound and contains an exhaustive list of notes and literature,’ the jury said. ‘This thesis describes the subject is not only detailed and very well documented, but also strongly opinionated in nature regarding the pressing question of how - both in law and in practice - to deal with damages as referred to in Article 6:173 of the Civil Code, which occur within a family context. The thesis presents a clear and well-reasoned vision with a proposed solution direction outside liability law.’
